Only 17

by Manders   Apr 29, 2008

This is the first time
her story has ever been told
about a girl who died
when she was 17 years old

She always kept a smile on
but no one knew how hard she tried
the smile hid her tears
and her brokenness inside

Everyday she'd write in her book
just trying to escape
didn't want to die
but couldn't stand the pain

Everyone blamed her
for the problems they had
for her brother leaving
to live with their dad

He'd been gone so long
hadn't spoken a word
and yeah she knew
they all blamed her

She would apologize
every single day
carved 'I'm Sorry' on her wrist
but she still felt the hate

She could see it in their eyes
hear it when the spoke
no matter what they said
they couldn't let it go

One day there was a fight
the whole town could hear her yell
just another day living trough
her undying hell

But this was the last night
this was the final straw
she just couldn't take it
she wasn't that strong

She screamed at them \
there's a reason I wear long sleeves
to hide all the scars and cuts
you gave to me

Thats when she ran
straight into the street
thats when the truck came
her heart skipped a beat

She lay there in the road
with her sleeves rolled up
and in her last breath she whispered
see what you have done?

This was the only time
her story was ever told
a story about Amanda
when she was 17 years old.
