You are my ever lasting moon

by Cassie Amy   Apr 29, 2008

So I sit on the edge of the dirty embankment,
Watching the shadows drift in and out.
I play with the water silky beneath me
And watch the moon with dearest doubt.

Why does something so beautiful,
Only appear when it is night?
When its purity is the open door
To ones ever lasting fight?

Why do tears only flow,
When its glow fills the night air?
And the truth is finally revealed
In one small, silent prayer?

Should we drown through the night
Let the moon wander through?
Because I'm not sure of it's intentions
I have a feeling I can see through.

But what I do know, however
Is that I can still see your face
When the moon comes back up
At rather an impressive pace.

Even though we are over
And have been for several years
I still look out my window
And witness my lonely tears.

For you are the one who haunts my glorious moon
And causes its light to seem so dark and unfair.
I know I still love you, oh so no matter what
But these truths get lost in the cold night air.
