Domestic Violence

by Dion Avramides   Apr 30, 2008

Already battered by her knees he lay
The passing winds through the curtains play
The sirens answer to her woeful call
And flagging sails on love's ship fall

When the angels open to receive gloomy light
Too late, grim death rides towards his sight
A dreadful day let in to shadows below
The liquid spills as blood it flows

With one dire shot his life they can supply
He is helpless but in each other they lie
Close by the room, she frantically looms
She has pretended yet fears no more

Yet a fear in her she will maintain
His body lies gently upon the plain
In course still tires like a dog he lay
Power to kill yet she will get away

With his rolled back tongue she kisses her prey
She trembling creeps silently away
His warm breath bids her one final goodbye
And she turns and looks at him with beseeching eyes
