I am from resenting the past
of drugs, sex, and violence
from hating my father, my brother and HIM
for bringing it all in
I am from harming myself
and none the less others
I am from carrying a child
at 13 years old
I am from turning the music up
so no one hears the screaming
I am from praying
every night that I'll be okay
I am from "being" with 20 year olds
just to hear "I love you"
I am from a friendship
turned to sisterhood
and from sisters down to peers
I am from loosing my innocence
as such a small child
I am from everyone leaving
and loosing everything
I am from staying strong
and still being here
