Island of Dreams

by I Seem to be the Heartless   May 1, 2008

Sitting on the beach,
The white sand running through my fingers,
I watch as the waves crash
And wash up onto the shore.
The azure waters are calming,
The sound of the roaring waves,
Relaxing.
But something is missing...

Walking through the enchanting forest,
The tree leaves brushing across my skin,
I listen as the birds rustle in the high branches,
Singing a welcoming song to me.
The mystical sounds of the forest surround me,
Engulfing me in its wonderous secrets.
The colourful butterflies flap around me,
Their beauty undeniable.
And yet there is still something missing.

As night time falls on the island,
The sun's rays start to disappear,
The darkness embraces me.
I stare up at the cloudless night,
Connecting the stars to spell out your name.
I suddenly feel so lonely,
So sad,
And I realise what has been missing -
You.

I've been longing for you,
To feel your fingers running through my hair;
To feel you brush across my skin;
To have your arms wrap around me...
I have longed to see your face;
To hear your voice;
To feel your soft lips pressed against mine
In a tender kiss...

Please promise that you'll join me soon,
On our Island of Dreams...

    So relaxing, so smooth, so beautiful, so sad. It does not help to have the most incredible recipe without the one main INGREDIENT.
