Make Me a Map, Answer a Question

by StandStill   May 1, 2008

Floating through the velvet cotton
that you keep stuffed in your brain
kind of like a miniature outer space
burning red with desirable pain

God only knows what I dream
but what if there is no God?
what would you tell me then
if i told you I'm afraid that it's all a fraud?

Deadened eyes are gorgeous
screaming madness, ever clear
all I want are Saturn's rings upon my finger
please, can you put it there for me, dear?

I think I'm lost once again
I cannot seem to find my way
where did that map that was on my heart go?
it must be hidden in this nighttime day

Falling down is beautiful
the world makes so much sense
I have some questions for you to answer
look me in the eye whilst i sit upon this fence

how is it that I'm screaming
and nobody's here?
how can i be so numb
and you're running away, dear?!

Threateningly exhilarating
how I can't feel my own heart beat
now I've got you jumbled up
terrible words have knocked you off your feet

Poor little hour glass
sitting in this puddle of Elmer's glue
poem's ending now and you've missed your chance
you should have looked up whilst angels still flew

personally, a very interesting enkjoyable poem to read. the opening stanza caught my eye and kepted me hooked. though, through-out the poem i couldn't quite understand every section to the poem, which gave it a sence of mystery, leaving my mind puzzled and looking for more, an overall great effect. i truely enjoyed reading this poem, with its interesting use of words and great ideas- tara
