As you lie sleeping in dreams

by Orchid Man   May 2, 2008

I sit alone while you lay sleeping amid private dreams
Watching night shadows ever searching among distant hillsides
Beams from the moon play among roof tops and trees
Yet none of this panorama compares to your beauty.

Your life with me relates to chapters of a book of mystery
Each day bringing your grace filled with its new wonders
Of the millions of wives and lovers throughout our world
Orchid Lady you enthral me more than another woman could.

When the sky is grey and full of drenching gales
Whenever the wind howls its way across the landscape
You are here beside me bringing such peace to my heart
How could I need anyone but you in my life?

Should you accidentally brush my arm as you walk by
A feeling of sheer excitement runs through my body
It's as though you awaken moments of our first meeting
When we were young and our lives were spent in closeness.

Though the room is barely lit by faint dancing moon beams
My gaze turns to your sleeping face and I look at you in awe
You look so peaceful and your breathing calls me to your side
Yet I know this time for dreaming is for you and you alone.

Darling, the love you share with me through passing years.....
gives me strength and courage to face so many uncertainties
Through cheerless times when you may be lying quietly and unwell
To those magical times you enchant me with your happy laughter.

No doubt there are countless men who count their blessings as wealth
True happiness evades them as they sit amongst money or treasures
Orchid Lady, you are the greatest treasure I could ever have wished for
As you sleep your golden hair shines around your head like a halo.

Soon the dawn will again lift its light and these moon beams will fade
You will stir and my daily magic will again bring me happiness
Through waking eyes you will call my name; lifting your arms in welcome
And lovingly I will rest my body in my own private wonder of you.
