LOVE AT A LEVEL [part 1]

by Kevin   May 27, 2004

You flare from the corner
and I
unsurprised see sleepy eyes
eyes who once held me
complete
like a baby

but know those eyes are changed
bitter I think
to match the weather

an I can’t believe
we were deceived
into thinking love was ours
we drank it up
shared a levelled cup
until it was devoured

then what remained
but hate and pain
in the past
I might have thought so
it merely is a case of knowing
that the love we had
was not so
