What he couldn't see

by Danushiya   May 4, 2008

The clock ticked by,
he kept watching over
impatient to get away,
while she wanted it to stop,
cause just to have him there,
meant the whole world to her

The rain came gushing down,
he kept tapping his feet,
waiting for it to cease so that he could run away,
and she kept wishing, it would never end,
cause just to have him there,
felt as if nothing else mattered.

What he couldn't see,
were those smiles escaping her lips,
whenever he was around,
what he couldn't see
was how she prayed everyday
so that on his face, would always be a smile,
what he couldn't see
were those tears trickling down her face
because she was not the one he'd ever want to be with

He threw her a little note
with a big THANK YOU scirbbled on it
for he'd copied her homework,
she kept the little treasure,
in a tiny box, because that's all she'd have,
when he's far away.

He stared outside
feeling lost and defeated
for he felt he'd never find his true love,
her eyes met him, yet she turned away,
because she knew so well, that
she's not the one he'd ever ever want.

What he couldn't see,
were those smiles escaping her lips,
whenever he was around,
what he couldn't see
was how she prayed everyday
so that on his face, would always be a smile,
what he couldn't see
were those tears trickling down her face
because she was not the one he'd ever want to be with.
