Baby Doll

by Alter Ego For Rent   May 4, 2008

Little girl sitting in the front seat shaking
Little girl sitting in the back row shaking
She says that this is all she's got
She says that this is all she's got.

She's got silver in her top drawer
And silver in her lungs
And she'd run from her own shadow given half a chance.

There's something private in her eyes
It's crouching, covering her sunsets
But she doesn't need sunsets
Sunsets are overrated.

There's something deathly in her smile
That clutches, clawing at her windpipe
But she doesn't need air
Air is overrated.

She clutches her mantra in her bleeding hands
Circulation poor
All systems down.

Suck it up
Suck it up
Suck it up
Baby doll.

And she's pale
Oh she's pale
She lives in fear of her scars and the stones embedded
In her back, and in her ankles
In her neck, and in her shoulders.

Suck it up baby doll.

No, no, no, no, no.

Stone is overrated.

{author's note- i use silver as a euphemism for a knife- it's just my thing.}
