This morning I heard a wonderful song "Forever" and I thought of you -
I thought of you because I need you 'forever' and for as long as I breathe
On the day my frail old body draws its last breath I promise you this.......
....I shall lovingly speak your name Orchid Lady and leave this Earth with a smile.
As a life companion you have shared your dreams and given me your undivided love
Not one complaint or unkind word have you spoken, just unselfish love; never seeking rewards
Through many times of uncertainty you have been at my side with words of encouragement
I am certain a lesser woman would have shrugged her shoulders then turned her back on me.
Sweetheart my words are not said to embarrass you, instead they are used in recognition of you
If you were not here beside me giving your support, I don't know where I would be today
Had I the power to draw my own companion; my drawing would have been in vain.......
....you would have escaped my dreams and my punitive drawing simply be sketched in error.
As my eyes slowly open my first want is to gaze at you then smile to see you lying beside me
The vision of soft tussled blonde hair lying upon your pillow shining like a gift of golden morning sunrise
To see you and your beauty gives me and my heart a deep feeling of inner peace and contentment
Then I lie back on my own pillow and think of the wonderful day I shall have with you in my life.
Soon you will stir and wake; smile then reach for my hand and hold it tightly in your own
As if on cue the early morning birds will lift their heads and sing you a morning greeting
Orchid Lady as we lie holding each other's hands a truth flashes before my eyes.......
....without you, without your love and worth, I will simply live within a vacuum.
