Caged Tears

by Beowulf   May 27, 2004

I lie here
Dry eyed
The thousands of tears
Remain in my swollen heart
Hardened
Not as ice
Which thaws
But as cement
Growing more stiff
Every moment
Why can they not be released
If only they could splash
Little waterfalls of salt
Down my sullen cheeks
Soaking my pillow
My heart could be free
Empty
Clean
