Missing You My Old Friend

What do you see in this hopeless soul?
I am only a shadow of what you use to be...
I look at old pictures and see the girl I miss,
That use to look back at me in the mirror each morning.
I miss that girl, she use to greet me with a smile and a how are you.
She knew herself,
She had hope,
She knew what was real, and had faith in the day.
No sorrow touched her lips
And tears hardly ever fell from her eyes.
Full of energy and never down,
Where did you go?
I miss you.
It's like we are two different people,
But now you're gone.
You were engulfed by the darkness that surrounds me.
You use to write good things, happy things.
It's the only memory left of you.

I miss your smile.
You are my memory,
The hope that I will know myself again one day. Nothing could break you,
It seemed.
But you're gone,
I want you back.
I mourn the loss of you, the loss of my old self.
