Ode to Twilight

by James Alexander   May 7, 2008

As I close my eyes,
The word melts away.
I dream of a place,
between the night and the day.

In the place of my dreams,
You can see heaven in the stars.
The sun has gone down,
and you can barely see Mars.

The forest I'm in is cold but inviting,
There's no insects around buzzing or biting,
I curse the heavens, shaking my fists, angry and spiting,
If the world could see this, there'd be no fighting.

Then I realize something is missing,
Not an animal, a bug, nor stars in the sky,
But it's you, my love, and it's your face I should be kissing.
I think I should weep, sob, or maybe even cry.
I miss you my dear, why aren't you here?
Then I open my eyes, and much to my surprise,
I see you there and I see your stare,
A love like ours is really quite rare.

James, this poem really isn't half bad! I really like all of the discription and the final happiness of being with the woman you love. :)
