Graduation Day

by Spoken Silence   May 9, 2008

Looking back at all of these years that I spent,
At my parents house having them pay the rent.
Trying to remember all those times I broke the rules,
Thinking there never was any point in going to school.
They said that high school years are the best times of your life,
You shouldn't waste them because they fade away quickly.
Piles of homework on my desk,
Hating teachers because they said they knew best.
Wasted time after school at detention,
I'm surprised I never got a suspension.
Freshmen to senior went by like a breeze.
I never thought I'd stand here making this speech.
I'm off to college to make my own way.
I really wish I could stay in high school just one last day.
Graduation rocked now that I'm free,
And now I can say I can be whoever I wanna be.
