Behind The Orca's Smile

by michelle   May 9, 2008

Upon my deathbed, they mock me.
In my prison, they laugh
My suffering, their entertainment
My misery, they enjoy.

Faces pressed against glass
Staring at my limp dorsal fin
Freedom now restricted by concrete walls
When i once swam the ocean, with the rest of my kin.

They come to watch, to laugh and jeer
Buy their tickets, sit in the stand
Upon my back, sneering, you wave
All my pride, long gone, as I'm yours to command.

Blow the whistle, and watch me jump
Clap your hands, and watch me fly
Lock me in this shallow grave
And you shall watch me die.
