Corner of the Universe ((bitter lies))

by StandStill   May 10, 2008

Wrapped up in the bitter lies of every day
arms straining to bring her free
numb fingers grasp at slippery dreams
that clang onto unplayed piano keys

Unborn resolutions,
match the prophecy
falling off the edge of the world,
into the starling sea

Cannibalistic hate
eating away at every belief
no longer swimming in the ocean
feet and hands bleed on the reef

Lips are blue with freezing,
freezing, mellow pain
broken record plucks a tune,
now ending. now starts again.

Stumble-fingered dreaming
leads only to a corner in outer space
where only pain and reality can flourish
where the fallen angels run their race
