Act of Contrition

A sincere and true act of contrition
Can bring the soul to a better condition
The sins of today and those of tomorrow
Are forgiven in divine joy and sorrow

Joyfully we are healed by the same pain
Of the contrite sorrow that is not in vain
This pain is the reality none can escape
Because our world is in a sad shape

When we turn from the heavenly light
There is only the darkness of the night
Darkness is only the goodness we lack
Thank God nothing can hold us back
