Plastic Hearts ((i want to be an angel))

by StandStill   May 11, 2008

Checkerboard sunsets
fan across the sky
sees another day end,
tears form inside her eyes

Desperation fills her,
she longs to be something real
something, anything, please,
but anger's all she can feel

Anger at this world,
which put the smoking gun in her hands
bitter at the lies they told
the unsolid ground they gave her to stand

Anger builds inside,
little volcanoes in her heart
can you hear it, lover?
tiny tremors soon start

Plastic heart is beating
pulsating in a weary chest
never good enough for them
she just wants to be the best

Another little failure,
she picks up a tiny rose,
little drops of blood run down her fingers,
that's how the story goes

Reader, did you hear it?
the one shot that rang out in the night?
no...nobody hears metaphoric guns,
nobody cares to make it alright

God only knows she wants to be an angel
just like they all think she is
that perfect girl they see
desperate for a hug, a kiss

"I love you" isn't coming,
the only sounds she hears are soothing lies
suppose that's what happens
when metaphoric tears are the only ones she cries
