It Rains Hardest on Those who Deserve the Sun

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   May 11, 2008

When you get to the second stanza, please notice the metaphor usage when I'm talking about the eyes being the windows to the soul.

Sometimes you cry so hard your eyes dry up like raisins and fall out
and you become blind to all pain.
A lot of bad shit happens at times and all we can do is pout
and simply hope we can stay sane.

Death never disappears, it just fades.
One day the windows will bust, releasing our souls.
Can't save souls from light by wearing shades.
Our bodies will be burned or buried in big holes.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
Time will never tell the future, only the past.
Some of our deaths will seem unjust.
It is far too hard to tell how long we will last.

The lighthouse keeps searchin' along with the rest.
The doctor will be there to help you on your way.
Your loved ones will be there when you are depressed.
Wait for another life to be taken away.

Sometimes it rains hardest on those who deserve the sun.
The "bad guys" get more time to make up for their faults.
Just remember your life now has truly just begun.
Keep livin' and breathing through the painful assaults.

I really enjoyed the imagery you created with your words. It brought the poem alive for me and the strong emotions you expressed were easy for me to relate with. You took this title and made it your own ... congrats! Well done *5/5*
