A Lie

A lie to cover up the truth,
A lie to blind the heart,
A lie to gain my trust in you,
Pierced through me like a dart.

A lie that was as foolish as
the motive that hid behind,
A lie to put me to the test,
See what was on my mind.

A lie to prove my honesty,
intentions, and my thoughts,
A lie you told so you could see
If I was just a fraud.

A lie that should not have been told,
One that should have been left
alone till all the questions unfold,
and the answers unravel itself.
