Devil's Prey

Running through the vast forest of my mind
hiding from the evil world that i long to leave behind
climbing up a tree just to get away
from the one that hunts me down
because i have become his prey

I've been chewed up and spit out too many times
the world is cruel, unkind and blind
to the ways of light
but they can't help it because their eyes
have become accustomed to the darkness of his lies

sprinting away from the one that hunts me down
trying to scream so someone might hear my plea
for someone to come rescue me from these darkened pathways
because i am scared of the hunter
who longs to devour his prey...
