Here I am(A Holocaust Poem)

by cassie   May 13, 2008

Here I am standing in the street
My hands up in the air
With the barrel of a gun pointing at my face
My heart is racing to the moon
I am soaked from sweat
I want to stand up for what I believe
But there is no chance
They will not listen
They do not care about me
They will just shoot me
All I see is black soot
Wrapping its arms around us,
Choking us, killing us
Here I am standing in the street

If only I could escape
I would run home
Somewhere I could sit by the fireplace
Somewhere where the luscious grass is green
Where the innocent birds are singing
My friends and family are laughing hysterically
There would be no worries or fears
If only I could escape
