Inner Conflict

by Jemma   May 13, 2008

In my mind there's a war that I've designed
A battle I fight alone
To the heart of tears and bone
So cruel and yet so kind
My old skirmish held inside
Buried deep within my mind

Pain and laughter
All that's left inside
Pain and laughter
All that still resides
The only sun that ever shines

Never has my conflict seemed so bright
Without the shadows keeping close
My own unholy ghost
Setting my eyes alight
Widening in fright and surprise
A wonderful surprise

Pain and laughter
All that's left inside
Pain and laughter
All that still resides
The only sun that ever shines

In my mind there's a war that I've designed
Destitution for the hatred I despise
Sets me apart so true
From the millions of you
And all your lies
I will not sanctify your lies and hypocrisies

Pain and laughter
Irreligious when combined
In the shrine so well confined
In the crypts of my own mind

That's where I reside
