The Hottest Love has the Coldest End

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   May 14, 2008

Those lustful eyes looked into mine
and love conquered my heart.
Our hearts began to intertwine.
I knew this was the start.

We talked and flirtatiously joked
every session when we met.
My strong emotions were invoked.
I even saw I made you sweat.

We grew close friends and began to date.
Such love was burning within.
I often thought of you my soul mate.
Our love was deeper than skin.

The wedding bells began to chime.
We each spoke forever I do.
Together till the end of time.
Our passion began to imbue.

We drove to our new home,
kissing and laughing on the way.
Feeling as rich as loam,
though nothing could ruin that day.

We crashed head on into a car.
The driver of course is drunk.
Eyes opening, things seemed so far,
inside a hospital bunk.

I turned my head-white button up coat.
Looked up to see a doctor's face.
Saw a paper; he read what he wrote.
He spoke; it was a deadly case.

He died on our wedding day.
My once white dress now red.
Suit drenched in blood-it was gray.
I can't believe he's dead.

Staring at his casket, looking at him.
Lost in my thoughts, I seem to transcend.
Never thought his future would be so dim.
The hottest love has the coldest end.

Perfect use of emotion and tragedy you used in penning this piece. I was truly hooked from the beginning and was eager to read more to see what happens next. You truly had me at the edge of my seat. I could feel for this couple because you told this story flawlessly and brought it to life. The ending just hit me like boom and the title used at the end was perfect. Well done and congrats on winning *5/5*
