ELYSIUM

by katie T Scott   May 15, 2008

Send me to sleep with your silent lullabies
Your gentle song and your winged words
Let me fly across the open elysian fields
Like the most innocent of birds

Nothing will ever touch me in your arms
Nothing will ever hurt again
All those nights of anger and the tears of hope
That swept me away like a hurricane

The sun smiles brightly at me up here
Not where she frowned back down below
Where I felt the world closing in on me
But let not a single person know

I confided in the stars above my head
I never wanted to trouble your busy mind
But you let me take up your heart
When the worlds was so unkind

You sent me to sleep with those lullabies
With the softest swooping words
You set me free into Elysium
Like the most innocent of birds.
