In Love & War, The Truth Hurts More

by Curing the Comon Cliche   May 17, 2008

It comes down to this
Heart against your mind
Awake: Looking for clues
Scene of passion's crime

Perfect little paradox
You say you love me too
But we both know far too well
It's not the same way I love you

Is that your heart talking?
Would your mind say the same?
Would it play a little longer
Love and war is just a game

Lies are fair in love and war
But you want to be true
Well, when your mind speaks for your heart
My heart breaks in two

How's that for a stanza?
I guess sad truth rhymes
Heartbreak poems remember truth
Yes, heart breaks every time

Two O'clock in the morning
Why am I awake?
My heart stopped beating for my mind
Heart can't beat and break

Laying upside down
Let the blood rush to my head
Try to drown out all these things
Not true enough things you said

Laying upside down
Does this frown count as a smile?
Let the blood flow to my head
Let it take over for a while

My dear, I'm so sorry
So sorry you feel bad
Smile, we made a perfect paradox
Need to be happy to stop being sad

Love & War; Heart & Mind
Paradox & A Game
I can make your heart beat fast
But your mind doesn't feel the same
