The Student

by H E Losey   May 18, 2008

The student sits and listens to the
teacher preach and preach
But how much do they care to learn
how many can we reach?
The student holds our future in his
mind and in his hands
But how well do we prepare them
to care for our cherished lands?
The student has such pressures
drugs, parents, peers and grades
But how do we assist their quest
for knowledge and accolades
The student is our future
to our world they hold the key
But how well they are prepared
is up to you and me

I, for one, adore school as much as ever. :) And I take into consideration the possibilities of having to learn and to teach; it's quite good, actually. :)
I loved this poem, for it speaks to many, I assume as such, anyway.
5/5, even if you deserve much more... the possibilities of being a poet. :)
