To the Monster Within Me

by Dan Bloom   May 18, 2008

In every attempt to escape you
There is an aura of futility
that binds who I truly am.

You limit me, corrupting the powers I contain,
with your filthy curse;
this curtain of forgetfulness.

With your own tainted hands
do I try to cure the people you selfishly used
and abandoned.

I hate every fiber of your being.
I will escape you;
I will betray you.

Depart from within me.
My solace lies without you.
Your putrid work has finished.

    I know how that feels... I live that. To see those lines like that in a poem really makes me reflect. thank you for that. Another really good one. I like the way it ends, like you're banishing the "monster". Another amazing one :D
