Why can't I figure this out?
It shouldn't be this difficult!
I'm just looking for a friend;
Someone who, in the end,
Will still be there with me,
Whatever the circumstance may be.
Someone who'd never hurt me,
Leave me, or desert me;
One I can trust all the time,
Whose words (sometimes hard, but always kind)
Influence my choices made...
Whose character never wavers or fades.
Someone whose heart I love and know;
Someone who, with me, will spiritually grow...
Someone who cares not what others may think,
Someone who stands up for what he believes.
A loyal friend to talk to,
Tell my deepest secrets to...
Someone who loves to laugh with me,
Who helps me see all I could be.
I need a friend with all these things;
I need someone who cares.
But how do I know what the future will bring
Unless God leads me there?
How much longer must I wait?
If I hold my breath, will I suffocate?
My heart is aching -
It feels near breaking!
Am I asking too much?
Because you can see, it's such
A burden of mine.
No matter how hard I try,
Life doesn't always go my way.
And I truly understand that, but hey -
Can I please have a friend, like the one I described?
I don't care if it's a girl or a guy!
Whatever You give me, Lord, I'll take gratefully -
And forever in debt to You I will be!
But til then, I'll try to wait patiently;
But down here on Earth....
Sometimes I get lonely.
