Hoping, Praying, Wishing

by Sam   May 19, 2008

I have nothing else to do
But sit all day and think of you;
This time it's me 'twas pulled away
And neither time we've had a say.

I lie hurt hoping, praying, wishing
That he knows it's him I'm missing;
The times, though brief, that we're apart
Still ache and grieve my lonely heart.

Of this I know of quite a bit -
Distance and time are irrelevant;
Though living close has perks and pros,
Its cons and dangers soon would show.

We two can't help but envy those
Who love each other and live close;
They take for granted simple things
That to us such great joy would bring.

A laugh, a hug, a beaming smile,
To take a walk and talk a while;
To be within each another's presence
And take in such a privileged essence....

Some "love" for the convenient location
Such motives only bring complication;
I loved you before I saw your face
Ev'n though I've ne'er felt your embrace.

I love you for your love of Christ -
That's more than lips could e'er suffice;
I fell in love with your heart and soul
That bests all love stories ever told.
