Tired tick tock ((if the stars aren't enough))

by StandStill   May 19, 2008

The tired clock's fingers reach,
reach for the stars, reach into space
"tick tock" thunders everywhere,
rebounding off the clock's face

Falling falling falling,
falling just like the rain,
deserted ghost towns of a kingdom
bring the lonely queen pain

Velvet sky reaches ahead,
touch it if you dare,
cut your fingers just like butter,
just be careful not to care

Will the stars ever be enough for you?
if they shan't, then I never shall
oh, lovely garden's bursting in life,
in comparison i will forever pale

Maybe I don't want to be good enough,
cut off the hand just to spite the eyes
would it shock you, dearest,
if i could stop reacting with surprise?

Oh, tired rambling, i deplore thee
words never make sense in my hands
can you read the tired "tick tock", lover?
shall we freeze time and space where we now stand?
