She Thought

by Sam   May 19, 2008

She thought she could believe in him -
He said their love was true.
And she had every confidence
In what their prayers could do.

She never saw it coming -
His betrayal cut so deep.
A lesson learned on trusting;
Her disappointment, steep.

How could he humble her this way?
Why did he need to crush
The spirit of the one who loved
His very soul so much?

And yet, astonishing it is -
Her so-called dear, best friend
Has become the thing he so despised:
A player, now condemned.

She thought she could believe in him -
She thought wrong.

Very nice telling of this story. It seemed to have a nice steady metre and the rhyme scheme was good.
Nice tie-in of the title and the ending.
