Remember You Always

Tears welling up in the back of my eyes,
I feel my heart rate starting to rise,
As I begin my waterfall of cries,
It is time to say our final goodbyes,

I know that you have pain like no other,
But, we were always there for each other,
Even when we found out the one who died, was you mother,
Then now this year, her brother,

These times have been hard,
We try to lift up our guard,
Always it falls, leaving minds and bodies battered and scarred,
Now that you are leaving me, all I can really do is hand you card,

Stuffing it with as much love as I possibly could,
And thinking if I could feel the pain for you I would,
Thinking that if you stayed here your life would not be so good,
Thinking that when I told you that I love you, you misunderstood,

We have so many childhood memories,
From playing hide and seek behind trees,
To just sitting on the swings, embracing the soft breeze,
But now all that is gone, and I hold on to you one last time and squeeze,

I whisper in your ear to never forget anything,
Never forget any of the times we shared, even if it stings,
I know not all of them have joy to bring,
But one day you will look back and your heart will sing,

You'll remember your home in Cherry Hills,
And it will give you chills,
Yet your heart will fill,

And I will never forget you,
I will always stay true,
