Unending turmoil.

by WhiskeyGirl   May 21, 2008

You glance at the table beside you,
so close lays a knife,
so close to take your life.
Or at least numb the pain,
for a moment.
To help you breathe.
To help you cope.
To stop the never ending screaming.
For just one moment.
You reach for it,
but stop.
You hear another girl's story,
on the news.
She has just died.
Her family cries in anguish.
You realize now,
what you are missing.
Why you've become what you are.
You ask yourself;
"what happened to the girl you once knew?"
The answer:
She has been lost,
in a weak, controlling world.
Unable to free herself,
from this unending turmoil.
You want to reach out,
to the family on the news.
To console them.
To give them a moment of peace.
But, you can't.
For you are only a child,
wishing to be coddled,
in your mother's arms.

-Sammie.
