Fade To Grey

by End Of Eternity   May 21, 2008

Sleeping below my mother's heart
Sucking drops of love coming my way
Imagining beauty of the world outside
Where I will be breathing one fine day

Friends will be there to grow with
God has blessed me with family
Nature will keep my soul safe
And all of them will pamper me

Could hear lullabies when I'm scared
Her soothing touch when feeling alone
Twisted around in this warm web of life
Waiting for the time when I'll be born

But then a thought scares me mother
Will I be considered a liability
Just because I'm not what you wanted
Will you simply overlook my ability

Why do we label daughters a curse
Blaming mothers for not delivering sons
How cruel can a man be sometimes
Playing with love at the point of a gun

I was told by God we are all the same
Yet this fear of rejection is scaring me
Came with many colors in my eyes
Fading to grey in the name of sanity

Please don't let the machine decide my fate mother.

This is something so orginal,so true, living in India I still come across such cases in the news, and its shocking as well as a shame.
Its an eye opener. 5/5 !

Ooh, I dunno what to say..
this is incredibly great..I never regretted admiring your work, although this one is pretty harshy
Anyway, I dunno why I suddenly felt that dark side of this world we're living in, seeing all these issues going through & through
So, I just wanted to say that you did a wonderful job here & the expressions were so meaningful & straight to the heart
    Keep Rocking :)
    Best Regards
    P.S Missing you

Written with much insight and emotion! I pray this practice ends around the world...and woman takes her rightful place of equality side by side with man! Great contest entry! Thanks for sharing! Take care, Debbie

Your poem is an eye-opener. I didn't realize this was going on. How sad that the price of a dowry could cause a man to take his child's life!!

The piece was from a unique perspective, inside the mother's womb. I find this quite clever.

    Good job!
