Twirl a Little Faster ((lovely are the broken hearts))

by StandStill   May 21, 2008

The tears run red,
cutting tracks down faces
indescribable hatred mellowed
simplicity at its peak

Tilting ferris wheels blur
the lines between reality and makebelieve
oh, haunting illusion, where art thou?
twirl a little faster, so to speak

Desertion of this ghost town carnival
too many amusements lie bleeding still
time drips down the childish lies
metallic winds screaming blasphemy

Night shade poison creeps down spines
bitter "I love yous" e'er so blinding
seeps into the lips, the minds, of lovers
carnival screams torturing the soul

Hushed are the realities of modern day
hidden in pagan lies of early days
hear the shrill cry of the whipporwill
a broken heart lies dying

I had voted on this poem before but I hadn't time to comment. I will do so now. This was such a dark poem and I thought your word usage was easy to understand and beautiful. 5/5

Hear the shrill cry of the whipporwill
    a broken heart lies dying
--can just see it in my head
    metallic winds screaming blasphemy
--can relate to, all too well
    another great poem Gabby
