You talk about life
As an adventure worth living
You talk about death
As though its unforgiving

I smile as you speak
Of war, triumph and love
You tell me of you husband
Residing in heaven above

You sigh as you remember him
Your love is eternal
I know this because
I read your journal

You pray for him daily
A place flowers on his grave
Considering the way you lost him
You have been so brave

He fought for his country
For the love of his life
He fought for his children to come
And to save his wife

He loved you dearly
That is true
I wished for me
