I often ask myself a question, "What would my life be without you?"
How would I survive one single day without seeing your smile?.......
....or to wake up each morning without hearing the one voice that captivates me?
It saddens me to think I would not feel your comforting arms holding me close to you.
For as long as I live and breathe, there is so much about you I simply will never forget
That heavenly smell of your skin as you brush past me with that wonderful scent you wear
The way my whole body cries out for you whenever you are away or standing near to me
To listen as you excitedly remember something insignificant or of greater importance.
Being there for you should an illness make you bedridden for a short period of time
Looking at your expressions as you open a birthday or Christmas present.......
....and the way your quizzical eyes watch me as you hand me a surprise gift -
Orchid Lady, I tell you now, without you I would be utterly lost and my world would end.
Should I have to live without you I have no doubt; the sun would never shine again
Day would follow day where darkness would destroy the singing of birds.......
....the very earth would wear a mantle of the darkest clouds with skies of grey
Without you I know my chances of survival bereft of happiness would be impossible.
I have inwardly smiled when I have noticed a smudge of flour on your cheek.......
....this may seem irrelevant, yet this is a memory of you that had brought me a moment of joy
You see sweetheart; it is the simple things of life; the spontaneous events that have importance
To remain within one's heart memories of occasions do not have to be glittering affairs.
The day you came into my life the sky was of the brightest blue and the day so clear.......
....it was as though everything else had lost its importance - I felt so humble to be with you
Since those early times you have made me look forward to each day as it arrives
