Daddy, can you hear me?

by tsl30   May 24, 2008

Daddy, can you hear me?
i'm calling out to you.
i know you're out there, miles away.
but you tend to forget about me, day by day.
you let me slip by, did you even care?
now i'm growing up without you here.
i'm getting older and i miss you dad.
i long for the father-daughter relationship we never had.
no one to teach me how to ride a bike,
go fishing, go swimming, or take an outdoor hike.
you're missing everything.
my birthday parties, my school events,
my dance recitals, and all the accidents i can't prevent.
oh i hope one day, you'll reach out to me
and tell me of the things we used to be.
tell me, dad, why did you go?
did you think leaving me was the answer? to let me grow up alone?
i wish you were here, to keep me in line.
yell at me, punish me, when i commit a crime.
but more importantly to be my role model, to always be there.
keep me safe, protect me from fear.
instead you're gone, far away.
never here to hear me say,
i love you dad. please come back to stay.
