Papercuts

by Bugg   May 24, 2008

Flipping through my geometry book
A small papercut pricked my finger
Staring at the blood, watching it drip
Wonder replaced pain that didn't linger

I rushed home and got out my razor
I took a deep sigh and brought it down
That small slice that was full of joy
Content with this self-harm, I drowned

Farther and farther I went
Until I lost all my self-esteem
My friends left, my family drifted away
I didn't care, cutting was my only dream

Looking at my wrists now I feel bad
Scars criss-cross over each other
They're not pretty, but they were then
Now they're just something I try to cover.

This is such a sad poem but it came from a background of good writing style like the story seemed so "real" :) Great Work! 5/5
