23. The Silent Girl

by Toni Lawrence   May 25, 2008

I show everyone what I want them to see
which is a strong woman.
But inside there is a lonely little girl who cries every night
because the pain is just to much for her.
Nobody knows just how bad her heart just breaks.

She hides away from the world
Never to speak a word

She is the one they blame
Always feeling the pain

She knows that time can't erase the tears
All that she knows is just her fears

She longs to feel love like a white dove
Waiting to know the love from above

She only knows the night
Why is there no light

She tries to hold on tight
But the candle will not stay bright
