Brick Wall

by The Angel of Secrets   May 26, 2008

She walks along a lonely road,
Feeling like her heart is about to explode.
She can't believe she said the words of love,
To tell him what she had been thinking of.

Blank, watery tears fall down her white cheeks,
She walks alone for days and for months, and for weeks.
She builds a brick wall around her heart.
So it never again has to fall apart.

She drags her feet under her, shes so tired,
She can't believe she didn't have what's required.
She can't believe she told him, what she felt inside,
All the things she had fought so hard to hide.

Her face is all wet, filled with shiny tears,
She sees them before her, her dreams and her fears.
Shattered in a thousand pieces, she falls to the ground,
She lost something she wish she had never found.

People walk past her, pretending as if shes air,
No one even notices the pain and despair.
The pain is like a thousand knives from within,
The pictures of things that might, could have been.

She can feel her inside turning to cold, hard ice,
She told him she loved him, and has to pay the price.
She's cold where shes lying, she can't even see.
"Why won't anyone come to rescue me?"
