Infidelity

by Michael D Nalley   May 26, 2008

Committing infidelity comes with a cost
With unfaithfulness, commitment is lost
A moment of pleasure leads to much pain
Everything to lose, and nothing to gain

Unforgiving fallen angels sometimes lure
To taint the sacred vows, that were once, so pure
When we have fallen, the demons attack
All that was once holy is difficult to get back

Hold on for dear life, and all that you treasure
Do not compromise a sacrament for pleasure
Search your heart to see if there is any room
Mind your soul before you commit to your doom

I was kind of taken back by
    Haven fallen.
    It just sounds, well, funky.

I had to look up the word Haven in the dictionary.
I was so sure that it was a noun.

Until it said that, it could also be a verb.
    "To shelter"

Hold on for dear life, and all that you treasure
Do not compromise a sacrament for pleasure

    I love that.
Just the flow in those lines were
    Flawless.

    I loved that part.

Everything to lose, and nothing to gain
You just said, on the line before this
    A moment of pleasure.
Doesn't that mean you GAIN a moment of pleasure?

All that [once?] was holy is difficult to get back

    All in all.
    I really like this.
    It wasn't simple
It wasn't difficult to understand either.

I actually didn't have to look up words
    Other than that haven thing.

    Good write :]
