Hope's all I've got

by The Angel of Secrets   May 27, 2008

A heart broken to a million pieces,
I try harder and your love decreases.
I'm never good enough, my loves not enough,
I'm hard, cold, heartless and tough.

Just another pretty face,
Filled with confidence and shining grace.
But confidence fades by words from you,
You never thought of the words you threw.

I'd love to say it didn't hurt,
But there's only so much one can take of dirt.
I can still feel the pain as it keeps on calling,
You kept rising as I kept falling.

I was the perfect mate, but you didn't care,
I was lucky to even have you there.
I had to be what you wanted be to be,
But I realize now, you never wanted me.

You broke my legs, but I'm still walking,
My ears are bleeding as you keep talking.
Your killing me softly when you say you want me back,
Knowing I have to follow my own, lonely track.

Hearing I love you never felt so bad,
It keeps reminding me of what we had.
Before you changed, before I fell,
Before I shut myself inside my shell.

There's a brick wall around my heart,
I built it in fear of it falling apart.
I duck-taped the pieces, even when they didn't fit,
And now I'm just scared of losing it.

I'm healed to a certain point,
Afraid to hurt, afraid to disappoint.
Perhaps a prince in a shining armour,
Will tear it down, this lovely charmer.

But knights belong to fairy tales,
Without reality, pain and details.
Even if it was the ability to love I forgot,
I'll hold on to hope, cause it's all I got.
