Rainbows after the Rain ((To James))

by StandStill   May 27, 2008

Nineteen candles on a bittersweet cake.
Day of joy, day of weary pain.
Just another day of three-hundred and sixty...
yet he knows his life will never be the same.

Bone aching weariness,
enough to cause an angry snap.
I can't pretend to understand,
but I know he feels so trapped.

He's been down this road once,
got turned around and so confused.
exhausting dreams and hopes
poor heart..by cancer it has been bruised.

This poem may not be enough,
I don't know, I couldn't tell,
but I know I'm worried about him now,
and I still don't know how far he fell.

But with the rain comes a rainbow,
glittering bright on the day-lit horizon.
I know he's strong enough to get through this,
he just needs to look for the sun.

We'll hold his hand as we cross the street,
and in time, we'll be able to look back.
We'll smile at this proof of utter strength
even under the brutalist of attacks

**To James...you can beat this.**
