To Be a Star

by Rick   May 29, 2008

There is an elegance to it all,
This constant rise, and ceaseless fall,
Of the majestic sun and silvery moon.
But the stars, the stars reign over it all.

Set in black velvet, up so high,
A myriad of torches in the night sky.
They watch us from their perch afar,
Would that I too, was but a star.

To die in the eyes of some sentient being,
Never asking why, or what it all means.
Just beautiful and content, to simply be.
Would that I too, was but a star.

My friend can not you see?
I just wish to be happy and loved,
To be loved, happy, and free.
This is why, a star, is what I wish to be.

Oh, to be a star.
