The Box

by Nikkicola   May 30, 2008

He told me that the key to his heart was lost and couldn't be found...
Those words they broken my heart and shattered it without making a sound....
Then he smiled and took out a box wrapped in hearts..he said to keep it close....
He made me promise to not open it until he said...but he said it's what I needed the most...

I sat and stared at the box until after he left...He called me that night.....
Opening that little box took all I had, and gave me a reason to live and each day to be bright..
I asked him when I could open it up...
He laughed and said egar much???

Two years went by and I forgot about the box, I decided it wasn't important....
One day I was going threw a drawer and saw it...sparking me again with intrest..
You walked through the door
And said I wouldn't have to wait anymore...

I ripped the paper off and opened the box....
A wilted rose was at the very top.....
after I moved it and the tissue paper I saw a key.....
You said I was the only one who could have it, you swore it belonged to me....

I pulled it out and it was attached to a neclace....
I smiled as you gently held my face...
I turned around as you clasp it around my neck...
I knew it was perfect..the way it felt...

I turned back to look at you and you where on your knees...
Reaching in your pocket and pulling a box out that you said was only for me..
Slowly breathing you opened it to reveal a ring...will you marry me you ask??
I think the scream said it all....we've been together ever since and I wouldn't change a thing...

It's funny how a box could make me live..
How it could show all the love you had to give....
I asked why you waited so long for me to open it
And you said...I want my love to be something you wouldn't soon forget......
