Die/Smile like you mean it

by StandStill   May 30, 2008

Darling dearest, the world rushes by,
and you're sitting around watching it.
Why don't you get up and join in this river,
this river-by lies it is lit.

Plaster a huge grin upon your face.
Don't ever let this world see you crash like a wave.
You're not going to be another burn out,
not you. You were born to save.

And while you're dying remember, dear,
with your shuddering breaths haunting you-
if you're going to die, die like you mean it-
there is NOTHING else you can do.

You can't rewind the ocean's sounds.
You can't unbirth a dying star.
You can't re-chain the monster, dear,
and you still can't lie about who you are.

So smile like you mean it,
and die the same way, dear.
Last breath and you'll still were your facade,
while your life slips away into fear.
