Oh, how summers change

by StandStill   May 30, 2008

Looking back at sunsets on adobe walls,
fishing for dreams in a field of stars.
Cheeks rosy with livelihood and laughter-
sitting, watching the quiet parked cars.

Remember the days of yesteryear?
When we were still alive and so innocent?
Remember the digital photographs?
Happy Valentine's we sent?

There used to be a day when we smiled,
happy for each other's little crush-loves.
There used to be a day when we sang our hearts out,
watching the flight of the morning dove.

But dreams burned down like the Valentine's,
Bitter rremembrancesof our childish naivete.
Mellow wing beats shatter on the silent night,
fading, fading, fading like this summer day.
